Opportunities for Language and Literacy MA Students:

  • English Department graduate Students are eligible to apply for adjunct instructor position in a second year of graduate course work (when courses are available).

  • CUNY CAP Fellowships: CUNY graduate program students who hold an undergraduate degree from a CUNY college are eligible to apply.

  • Study abroad credits for MA in Language and Literacy


 Application Information:

GRE Requested: No
Minimum Language Test Score: 600 (TOEFL PBT), 100 (TOEFL IBT), 7 (IELTS), 68 (PTE) or 120 (Duolingo)
Supporting Documents:

  • City College of New York Graduate Admissions Application Form

  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (unofficial transcripts can be submitted for initial application evaluation)

  • 2 letters of recommendation from professors on letterhead stationery or one letter from a professor and one letter from a workplace supervisor (a request for a letter will be emailed to the recommendation letter writers listed on an application form)

  • Resume/CV

  • Personal Statement (250-500 words) — a discussion of your academic and professional goals and how they related to the L&L MA program

  • Writing Samples: Two submissions of college writing or of professional writing (essay, report, personal narrative)
